Editorial Policy & Sources

Why this page exists
Travel document advice has real consequences: a wrong answer can mean a missed flight or a refused entry. This page explains how we decide what to publish, where our information comes from, and how we keep it current, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
Where our information comes from
Entry, passport and visa statements are checked against the government or intergovernmental body that publishes the rule. The sources we use most often are:
- U.S. Department of State (travel.state.gov) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection
- UK Government foreign travel advice (gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice)
- European Union official portals (europa.eu, travel-europe.europa.eu)
- The official immigration website of each destination country
- IATA guidance for airline document checks
Exchange rates and weather in our tools come live from public data feeds and show when they were last retrieved. We do not publish prices, fares, insurance premiums or loyalty earn rates as facts, because they change too often; calculators ask you to enter current figures instead.
How we write and review
- Each guide answers one specific question a traveller asks before booking or flying.
- Example numbers are labelled as examples, never presented as current quotes.
- Where a rule depends on nationality or circumstances we can't confirm, we say so and link to the authority that decides.
- We do not publish fake reviews, testimonials, statistics or expert credentials.
How we keep content up to date
Every article shows the date it was last updated. We re-check guides when an official source announces a change (for example the EU Entry/Exit System rollout or REAL ID enforcement) and review the whole collection periodically. Calculators are tested after every change to the site.
Corrections
If you spot something out of date or wrong, please tell us through the contact page and include the official source if you have it. We correct confirmed errors and update the article date.
Not legal or immigration advice
Our content is general information. Airlines and border officers make the final decision, so always confirm requirements with the official authority before you travel. See our disclaimer for details.
