Good to know

Night, airport and holiday surcharges vary โ€” check the local tariff.

Results are estimates for planning only, not financial or professional advice.

Why this is useful

Knowing roughly what a taxi should cost from the airport helps you spot an inflated quote and decide between a taxi, rideshare or public transport.

How it is calculated

Fare = base fare + (distance ร— rate per km) + (minutes waiting ร— rate per minute) + tolls and surcharges, then the tip percentage on top.

Worked example

Example only: a 3.00 base fare, 1.50 per km for 15 km and 0.50 per minute for 10 minutes gives 3 + 22.50 + 5 = 30.50 before tolls or tip.

Common mistakes

  • Using another city's tariff โ€” each city or airport sets its own.
  • Forgetting night, airport or luggage surcharges that many tariffs include.
  • Assuming tipping customs are the same everywhere.

Questions

Where do I find the local tariff?

City transport authorities and airports often publish official taxi tariffs. Use those figures rather than a guess.

Does this work for rideshare apps?

Not reliably โ€” app prices change with demand. Check the app's quote before booking.
