Why this is useful
Before booking, it helps to see the whole trip in one total so you can compare destinations or trip lengths fairly.
How it is calculated
Total = (transport ร travellers) + (room rate ร nights) + ((food + local transport) ร travellers ร nights) + (activities ร travellers).
Worked example
Example only: two people, 7 nights, 500 flights each, a 100 room, 40 food and 10 local transport a day each, and 150 activities each comes to 1,000 + 700 + 700 + 300 = 2,700.
Common mistakes
- Using per-person room prices as if they were per-room, or the reverse.
- Leaving out visas, insurance, baggage fees and airport transfers.
- Budgeting food from home-country prices instead of destination prices.
Questions
Are the default numbers real prices?
No. They are placeholders to show how the calculation works. Replace them with prices you find for your own trip.
How do I compare two destinations?
Run the calculator twice with each destination's prices and compare the per-person totals.
